What elements do you consider most important when purchasing a day planner?

Space, space, space. It must be big enough for me to write everything in for a day and still small enough that I can take it wherever I go and strong enough not to fall apart when it is overused.
I'm very particular when it comes to the size of my planner--I like to have something big enough that I have room to write down all of my assignments and due dates, but small enough that I can easily carry it around in my backpack during the day. I also like planners that have fun designs, since that makes me more motivated to use them!
I have to make sure there is a lot of room to write on each day of the week and I also really prefer having the whole month lay out directly at the beginning of each month. This is opposed to those planners that have the whole month views for the whole year grouped together at the front of the planner.
I am obsessed with being organized and having planners for each year. One of the biggest elements I look for when buying one is spaces for individual days of the month where I can write due dates for assignments, what I have to do that day, quizzes and tests, etc. I like to have enough room to write all that I need to do for that day! Also bright colors, inspirational sayings, and fun patterns are also a huge plus for me. Don't get me wrong though, functionality is number one when it comes to planners!
I like to have a calendar for each month in my planners as well as a breakdown for each day. I feel most organized when I can write bigger due dates in the calendar portion and daily to-do lists in the daily breakdowns.
